Sabol, 25, was originally drafted by the Pirates as an outfielder in 2019, but he took up catching in the Minors in '21 and has impressed the Giants with his work behind the plate thus far. Webbs FIP and xFIP from 2021-2022 are pretty similar to his ERA (and his .299 BABIP is roughly average), though the argument can certainly be made that such a grounder-heavy pitcher couldve been even more effective in front of a better defense than the Giants collection of subpar infield gloves.
